Contact: CAPI @ 250-721-7020 or capi@uvic.ca for more information.

CAPI invites applications for one Faculty Research Fellowship to support research during the 2011-2012 academic year, either for the full year or an academic term (negotiable) starting in September 2011 or January 2012.

Overview:

The purpose of the CAPI Fellowship is to support the completion or substantial completion of significant Asia-Pacific related research in any field. A Fellowship holder is expected to take part in the Centre's activities and to share research in progress with the campus and the public, preferably in the context of a research-related symposium. The symposium must take place within one year of the commencement of the Fellowship and CAPI will lend organizational support and resources to support this effort.

The Centre's support is to be acknowledged in all publications resulting from the research. All faculty with regular appointments at the University of Victoria that continue through 2011-2012 are eligible to apply. Funds are available to acquire one-third to one-half release time from teaching and administrative duties, depending upon salary levels and length of appointment.

Applications must include:

  • The project's title;
  • A summary of the proposed research to be undertaken (about five pages);
  • A confirming note from the applicant's Department Chair indicating that the Department is supportive of the application;
  • A full curriculum vitae;
  • The names of two external referees.

Requests for further information and applications should be directed to: Helen Lansdowne, Associate Director, Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis until Monday April 23, 2012 at 4 pm.  The selection process will commence on April 24, 2012.
