Intern alumni

Since 2002, CAPI's International Internship Program has seen many talented interns complete our program.  Several of them have gone on to complete graduate work or to work in the region, and many of our former interns remain engaged with the Centre through our events and projects.   

  • Aedy

    Kathryn Aedy

    Kathryn Aedy worked for five months as a Communication and Media Specialist with Isis International in Quezon City, Philippines. This internship was part of CAPI's 2010-11 International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

  • Amarir

    Loubna Amarir

    Loubna Amarir worked as the Program Assistant with the Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA) in Quezon City, Philippines. This placement was part of CAPI's 2009-10 Students for Development Program, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

  • Armstrong

    Kathleen Armstrong, Intern 2007-08

    Kathleen Armstrong worked as the Program Assistant-Child Rights with the National Center Against Violence (NCAV) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. 

  • Asif

    Furqan Asif

    Furqan Asif worked for five months as a Project Officer with The WorldFish Center, in Los Banos, Philippines. This internship was part of CAPI's 2010-11 International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). 

  • Bake-Paterson

    Zoë Bake-Paterson, Intern 2005-06

    Zoë Bake‐Paterson, a UVic alumni, worked as the Research and Communications Officer with the Pacific Islands AIDS Foundation (PIAF) in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, as part of CAPI's 2005-06 Internship Program funded by Foreign Affairs Canada.

  • Barter

    Shane Barter, Intern 2003-04

    Shane Barter, a UVic graduate, worked as the Program Officer with the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development in Bangkok, Thailand.  He was a participant in CAPI's 2003-04 Internship Program funded by the Centre.

  • Beaubien

    Chantal Beaubien, Intern 2006-07

    Chantal Beaubien worked as the Children's Rights Officer with the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (LICADHO) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as part of CAPI's 2006-07 Internship Program funded by Foreign Affairs Canada.

    Helen Beynon, Intern 2008-09

    Helen Beynon worked as the Program Officer - Micronesia Challenge with the Micronesia Conservation Trust (MCT) in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia as part of CAPI's 2008-09 Internship Program.

    Katie Bisaro, Intern 2005-06

    Katie Bisaro worked as the Research and Information Officer with Child Workers in Asia (CWA) in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of CAPI's 2005-06 Internship Program funded by Foreign Affairs Canada.

  • Bustos

    Pia Bustos, Intern 2006-07

    Pia Bustos worked as the Legal and Human Rights Task Force Researcher with the Pacific Islands AIDS Foundation (PIAF) ‐ Legal and Human Rights Task Force in Suva, Fiji, as part of CAPI's 2006-07 Internship Program funded by Foreign Affairs Canada.
